Benjamin Smith’s early career was in law before he decided to follow his passion, and grandfather Robert Ball’s footsteps, into professional art.
Intent on becoming a successful oil painter specialising in portraiture, Ben moved to train at the London Atelier of Representational Art in the essential concepts of proportion, line, gesture, form, light and colour.
“To be awarded the QEST Siegmund Warburg Scholarship for the final year of my Diploma in Fine Art is life-changing. Top quality classical art education is hard to come by, and expensive. I am now able to complete my studies at one of the best schools in Britain, and looking forward to communicating my own ideas in the rich language of realist art.”
This grant will fund his continued study at LARA. The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust awards scholarships to help support excellence in British craftsmanship.
