Joanna Turland is a graduate from Wimbledon College of Art (BFA). Working figuratively, her practice is concerned with the biological and psychological intricacies that bind humans together. Turland is particularly interested in exploring gender roles, challenging ideas of male status through looking at the submissive male, the male nude, and celebrating the dominant female.
Turland has exhibited work across the UK, including at Trinity Art Gallery and Clyde & Co. Art Award Exhibition, and has work in a permanent exhibition at Arlingtons Ipswitch Art Gallery.
This work – Something Blue – was selected to show at LARA’s Graduating in Paint, an exhibition of artists working in innovative ways across the field of painting who have graduated from art schools across the UK.
