Bring me there
The collaboration between LARA and AMC has been brewing for a while now and is blowing all the traditions away – this will be a truly unique blend of a wonderful Art Model Collective session set in the inspiring academic environment of the London Atelier of Representational Art. Previous events have sold out in advance, so don’t delay to get your tickets.
This fully tutored workshop involves spinning a model 360 degrees on a rotating plinth, while they hold a sustained pose. Artists draw a different angle of the same pose, as experienced animator Aaron Jacob Jones spins the model 45 degrees at a time.
Aaron will then help people animate their artwork into a rotating animation using one of the free mobile apps (or Photoshop).
The idea is for all participants to end up with a hand-drawn, looping animation (gif or movie, suitable for social media) of the model spinning 360 degrees. As well as creating eight drawings from a life model, they will have the added satisfaction to produce probably the first animation they’ve ever made!
The exercise enhances the understanding of capturing a figure as a 3D structure, through consistent study of multiple angles. And of course, seeing one’s artwork animated is always magical.
Aaron will bring the tech kit – camera, tripod, laptop and ipad Pro – to help make animations on the spot.
Have fun, be inspired and meet like-minded artists!
These sessions are open to everyone.
These sessions will take place in the Figure Room of LARA London allowing you to make use of the professional lighting our full-time students enjoy.
Chairs and drawing boards will be provided for all and there are 18 easels available on a first-come, first-served basis.
AMC will provide a selection of paper and free materials courtesy of GreatArt. Artists are encouraged to experiment with different media – varied charcoals, pastels, pencils, pens and even chunky markers. (You are welcome to use wet materials like inks, watercolours and oils, but please bring your own.)
