In the visual fine arts, acrylics refer to a painting medium consisting of pigment suspended in a synthetic polymer emulsified into water. Acrylics are water-soluble and have very good adhesive qualities. Acrylic paints are used in a variety of painting techniques, with several painting mediums available to apply glazes, washes and even to allow impasto techniques. They dry quickly and are waterproof.
