I'm so jealous of your students! I would happily sleep in a cardboard box in the corner of your studio if I could study/work there! One day (probably not until I win the lottery) I will save up enough money to join a proper atelier like LARA. Until then I'll continue to drool over my Bargue texts and attempt to teach myself!

Great to see that Lady Burlington has an entry here. I curated the first exhibition on her life and art in 1999 titled Pallas Unveil'd.

Sue,
I have just read your comment.I am researching Irish Sculptors for a project of the Royal Irish Academy. Turnerelli is on my list. I would be very excited to know about any original work you have. I have accumulated a certain amount of information to date. If you get in touch with admin they will let you have my e-mail address.
REgards,
Rita

I was studying at Mid-Warwickshire college where he taught in 1954. A lovely man with much time and interest in his subject. We did sculpture with him
once a week. Such a wonderful collection of work
left for us. June.

Sorry to see that this is still a new movement in London. I studied at the New York Academy of Art in the late 1980s... oddly enough one of the only contemporary painters we cared much for was Lucian Freud. I teach high school now in Connecticut. It seems to me that cars, buildings, computers, cartoons -- anything that needs designing -- will all remain hideous as long as they continue to be concieved of by generations of "artists" who couldn't draw a figure or portrait if their lives depended on it. I'd be interested to connect with any secondary school art intructors in the UK who advocate for and implement "traditional" art education, i.e. proper observational and conceptual drawing skills.
